I know some of you may be wondering when I’ll be posting something new, so, I thought I should give you all an update on why I’ve not posted a recipe in a while.
First of all, I had surgery in my right wrist…that’s right, my right wrist, the one I use most, the one I use to stir, scoop, hold, press, squeeze and so forth when baking, writing and typing! My first surgery was in October 2013 and it was for “De Quervain Tendonitis” which is a painful tendon on the thumb side of the wrist that sometimes occurs from over-use. This is different from carpel tunnel because it’s on the side below the thumb in the wrist area. Normally this surgery is often routine day surgery that requires a few sutures, rest and in a few weeks back to normal. Fo me, this was not a normal routine surgery.
After healing for 5 to 6 weeks and all seemed to be going well, I developed a bacteria in my wrist causing fluid to build up which required it to be drained 6 times. I had to have a port for IV infusions which are still ongoing as of today. I also had to have another surgery last week to remove scar tissue and to have it flushed and cleaned out. The hand surgeon sent out lots of cultures and labs. I have also been seeing another doctor for the bacteria…he is the one who ordered the IV infusions to be done daily. Tomorrow I go back to the hand surgeon to find out the results of all the cultures and labs collected at the time of surgery last week.
I will be out of work until the middle of March…no working or baking until the doctor gives the okay. I do have some recipes with photos that I’ve not had time to post, so, I should be able to post a few of them soon, but it’s a long process to type them up since I’m now typing with one finger on my left hand….very slow typing! lol Ohhhhh how I’m looking forward to typing again with both hands!
I have been trying to answer a few questions here and there, but still in the process of answering more in the next few days. I do want to let you all know that I will not have all the answers some of you are looking for when it comes to the recipes I post. I’m not a professional baker, I’m a baker like your next door neighbor, I make baking occasionally, I burn things occasionally and I make lots of mistakes in my spelling and grammar as some of you have mentioned. I try my best to type without errors, but I occasionally make mistakes…some of you may say it’s more than an occasional mistake! lol
Anyway, I am really happy some of you have added a few of my recipes to your recipe collection…that’s what this blog is all about. If any of you have favorite recipes you’ve been making for years, I’d love for you to share them with us. I think while I’m off work I may start a page for follower recipes only…a page just for you.
Thanks to all of you for taking the time to post messages to let me know the positives and the negatives from some of the recipes I’ve posted. Remember, I will never post a recipe here that I’ve not made myself!
Love you all!
