Sourcream Pound Cake

3 cups sugar

 2 sticks butter (room temp)

6 eggs (room temp)
3 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla (real not imitation)
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 cup sour cream
1/4 teaspoon soda

Grease and flour a tube pan or Bundt pan and set aside

Have all ingredients at room temperature. Add 1/4 teaspoon soda to sour cream and set aside.

Sift flour 3 to 4 times and set aside.

Cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy (about 8 minutes); add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add sour cream and soda and mix well. Slowly add flour and mix well without over-beating.

Add lemon extract and vanilla last.

Pour batter in pan and place in a COLD oven, and then set oven temperature to 300.

Bake for 1 and 1/2 hours or till done.

Cool completely before icing.  Drizzle icing on top of cooled pound cake and let run over edges.

Icing Glaze “Drizzle”

3 cups pre-sifted powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon lemon extract

2-3 teaspoons water.

Mix all ingredients together and mix well. Drizzle on top of cooled cake.

  1. The recipe is wrong…. I just made it last night and It became gross, too much sugar 3 cups. You should cook all the recipes before you publish them.

    • Adriana, I’m sorry your pound cake did not turn out the way you would have liked. I have made every single recipe posted on this blog…everything. I guess I’ll have to make this recipe again to prove to
you that it turned out fine for me. I am sorry your cake did not turn out, but you have to follow each and every thing I said. Room temp on the ingredients, adding the soda to the sour cream, sifting the flour 3 to 4 times, oven temp, type of flour you use and so forth. I can’t be in your kitchen with youio to see what the problem was. I would never post a recipe here without making it first myself. I checked my hand-written recipe and it calls for 3 cups of sugar. I don’t know what else to say but I think it’s wrong for you to assume I just post recipes without trying them first myself. Again, I’m sorry and I’ll make this pound cake again soon. I’m having hand surgery on this Friday so I’ll have to make it tomorrow before the surgery. Again…so sorry it didn’t turn out for you. 😦

  2. Thanks Rosseta, I will try it again but I’m pretty sure I followed all the steps right. Maybe it was too much sugar for me… It was too sweet but the consistency u think it was the right.

  3. Adriana, I’m so sorry that I was not able to make this cake today. I’ve had so much to do before my hand surgery tomorrow morning. I’ll not be able to bake for awhile, but I will be able to check messges and type with my left hand…and that will be with one finger! lol I willl get back to you on this as soon as I’m able to bake again.
